Discreet Lighting with a Powerful Impact

LED strip lights are a versatile lighting solution – discreet in form, yet powerful in function. With the right placement and the right fixture, they can create atmosphere and structure, highlight details, or enhance the architecture of a room, a façade, or an urban space. Westal’s range of strip lights is designed to meet the needs of various environments – from private kitchens to public spaces, from integrated furniture solutions to façade lighting.

The Right Light in the Right Place
Strip lights are used in both private and public settings, often as part of a larger lighting concept. For example, they can provide soft task lighting under kitchen cabinets or elegant and effective lighting in wardrobes and shelves, recessed into furniture or stairs.

In public spaces, strip lights can contribute to safety and orientation – for example, under park benches, in stairways, or as discreet guide lighting in corridors. On façades and at entrances, indirect light can highlight architectural lines and add character to buildings. Strip lights are also ideal for cove lighting – indirect lighting aimed at ceilings or walls – in offices, receptions, and conference rooms.

Flexible and Easy to Install
One of the major advantages of strip lights is their flexibility. They can be recessed, surface-mounted, or integrated into profile systems, and with the right IP rating, they are equally suitable for indoor and outdoor use.

Our strip lights are available in different lengths, color temperatures, and light outputs, making it easy to tailor the lighting to your needs. They are dimmable and can be integrated into larger lighting control systems. We also offer accessories and profiles to ensure the installation is both quick and visually appealing.

Part of the Bigger PictureAt Westal, we consider the entire lighting environment. Strip lights rarely work alone – they interact with other light sources and materials to create a cohesive whole. Our solutions are equally well suited for older buildings and modern settings and are used in everything from schools and hotels to housing associations, outdoor environments, and furniture.

Planning a renovation or a larger construction project? Then strip lights might be the detail that elevates the whole – small and discreet, but with a big impact. Tips for choosing the right LED Strip

Start by determining what type of LED strip is needed – then choose the profile that best suits the installation.

1. Choose the LED strip based on the environment and purpose
For dry indoor environments, IP20 is sufficient. If the strip will be installed outdoors, in bathrooms, or in other moisture-prone areas, you’ll need at least IP65.

Also consider what the lighting is meant to do:

  • Accent lighting, e.g., in shelves or wardrobes: minimum 5 W/m

  • Task lighting, e.g., above work surfaces: minimum 15 W/m

  • General lighting: minimum 20 W/m

Choose the right color temperature:
2700K provides a warmer, softer light; 3000K and 4000K are clearer and more neutral. Strips with adjustable color temperature offer greater flexibility.

2. Choose the right profile for the installation
Profiles are available for both surface-mounted and recessed solutions and can be cut to the exact length needed. Complete the system with clips and end caps.

LED Strip under wall cabinets

Good task lighting in the kitchen is essential for both functionality and comfort. LED strip lights mounted under wall cabinets offer a simple and stylish solution, providing even, directed light across the work surface – without taking up space or disrupting the overall design.

You can choose between recessed or surface-mounted installation depending on the layout of your kitchen and the visual expression you’re aiming for. An output of around 10 W per meter is usually sufficient to create pleasant and functional task lighting without causing glare.

Since kitchens are typically dry indoor environments, no special IP rating is required – IP20 is sufficient. However, it’s wise to consider the color temperature: 2700K gives a warm and inviting light, while 3000K or 4000K feels more neutral and clean.

The result is a lighting setup that makes kitchen tasks easier – while the strip lights become a natural part of the kitchen’s overall design.

Illuminate facades with LED Strips

Light strips are a discreet yet impactful way to bring life and character to facades—both in private and public settings. By placing the light close to the surface of the facade, the texture of the material and the building's lines are subtly emphasized.

In modern homes with rendered or smooth wooden facades, a light strip placed along the eaves works particularly well. It provides a soft grazing light that enhances the architecture without dominating the overall impression. This type of lighting is best suited to contemporary buildings and may sometimes feel out of place on older structures or in more traditional environments.

In public architecture, light strips work excellently as a complement to, for example, ground luminaires or projectors. Using techniques such as wall washing, the light can broadly illuminate a facade and highlight its rhythm and details—columns, recesses, and patterns—without causing glare or light pollution.

With the right choice of IP rating and profile, light strips can be easily adapted to suit the needs of any facade—whether it’s an entrance, a long wall surface, or a clearly defined eaves line.

Lighting in wardrobes

A well-lit wardrobe makes it easier to find what you're looking for while also creating a thoughtful, elegant impression. Light strips provide even, glare-free illumination that’s perfect for both built-in wardrobes and freestanding cabinets. The right lighting can elevate the interior and give the entire room a more luxurious feel. Place the light strip along the sides, at the top, or recessed into the shelves for a seamless, integrated look.

For wardrobes with a clothing rail, we offer the Hängare profile, which combines lighting and garment storage in one. This provides both a practical and stylish solution—especially in smaller spaces where every detail matters.

Choose a low-power LED strip—wardrobes rarely require more than a soft, functional light. To create a warm and inviting atmosphere, we recommend a color temperature of 2700K or 3000K. This provides a pleasant glow that is both practical and contributes to a more exclusive overall impression. The right lighting isn’t just about seeing—it’s about experiencing.
